2010. At a point between you and your destination

This temporary intervention operates from and with the space, revealing its latent materiality and the structural tensions that permeate it as an ancient, deconsecrated temple. The proposal begins with a minimal action—the precise removal of layers of white paint accumulated on the building's surfaces—to unfold a perceptual, procedural, and conceptual experience directly linked to the historiography of the place and its ghosts.
The result is a geometric image—a suspended pentagonal prism—that is only optically complete from a specific vantage point, located at the threshold of the building's entrance. This figure, fragmented along columns, panels, and walls, emerges as an optical apparition sustained by the balance between absence and presence. What seemed invisible or taken for granted—the neutrality and homogeneity of the wall, the linearity of the exhibition route—is interrupted by a logic of visual and temporal displacement.
The removal of paint reveals the building's layers, transforming the architectural support into an archive. Like an incision in the skin of the present, it provides access to hidden spaces once used for liturgy and to the remains of later interventions. Cracks, patches, and forgotten materials are projected onto the white wall in a kind of active archaeology. The point where the figure is formed coincides with the location of the holy water font, thus marking a physical and symbolic act of revelation.
This dual operation—visual and material—articulates a perceptual paradox: a suspended form is reconstructed that appears to float in space, while simultaneously accessing layers of history embedded in the walls. The figure not only connects the building's disintegrated surfaces but also signals a tension between the visible and the latent, between the contemporary exhibition device and the ritual memory that still persists beneath its layers. At the precise moment the eye aligns with the figure, the space also aligns with its history.
