ATTRACTION FIELDS
2010/25. Hidden installations. Secondhand books that have been banned or censored in countries where I've lived.

Library of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, Portugal

On one of the library's shelves, we find a section dedicated to love, books that bear the traces of passions, of the places they inhabited, and of the gazes that traversed them. From them emanates an exhalation of great intensity, produced by the encounter of living forces that rush to identify the energy that produces it and the direction in which it spreads. Immersing ourselves in their pages, colors manifest and physical signs emerge that, in the course of events, mark the rhythms of reading. Many of these stories have been captured, others ambushed, and still others have become irremediably anachronistic; but what seems certain is that within all of them still resides the attraction to the unknown and the transformative potential. Without any other motivation, they provide material with which to strive for the arduous task of abandoning oneself to the pleasures of the metamorphosis of our hybrid nature.
Within the limits of the literature produced, we seek evidence that stirs habits, ways of acting and questioning, in order to participate in the formation of a will that liberates thought and experience.
