THE TRANSPARENT WALL

The transparent wall, conceived for the Injuve Visual Arts Exhibition at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, is presented as an installation that fits into the temporal structure of the exhibition space. The work proposes a choreographic alteration of the space, reconfigures the museum's itinerary, and makes visible the institutional dimension of art as a living, contingent, and constantly negotiated environment.
The installation consists of a transparent methacrylate screen, precisely sectioned and tilted, which bursts into a passageway between spaces. This intervention doesn't seek to impose itself as a sculpture or object, but rather to operate as a visual and relational device. The viewer is forced to change their trajectory, to confront an altered threshold where the logics of access, visibility, and circulation are dislocated.
The project is not conceived as an isolated work, but rather as a collaborative workspace: it involves architects and technicians, curator Armando Montesinos, and artist Juan López, whose graphic intervention on the wall surface reveals—literally and conceptually—the internal tensions of the exhibition space. Juan López's practice, based on architectural interventions using vinyl, introduces a second critical reading that amplifies the discursive potential of the project.
The transparent wall, as a discourse-generating structure, investigates the functions of the exhibition space, the modes of viewer circulation, and the role of collaboration in contemporary artistic practice. Through the materialization of an idea in the context of a young art exhibition, the project proposes a reflection on the ways in which art is inscribed—and overflows—within the institutional, architectural, and social coordinates that contain it.
