Transfer of the Júcar river _2006

For this work, I embarked on a short journey without leaving the institution. Armed with a garden sprayer and an almost geological will, I began spraying water from the Júcar River onto the walls of the white, neutral, climate-controlled room. It wasn't about cleaning, but about sedimentation.
For fifteen days, the water—transported in recycled drums—was meticulously applied, as if it were an inverted excavation. Nothing could be seen. But little by little, the space began to shift. The air thickened. The walls, though still white, were soaked with river water. The gesture was invisible, but its effect was inevitable: the exhibition hall began to exude the Júcar, not as an image, but as an atmosphere.
The room became a kind of humid cave: an accidental sauna where steam replaced didacticism. Soon, fellow students began to frequent the space, not to contemplate, but to act. To smoke. To kiss. Inhabiting art as one inhabits an open field.
Thus, the Júcar river found its new course, not through the land, but through the white, breathable walls of the institution. The site was not a location, but a transformation.
